It’s time for Comic-Con International

It’s that time of the year…Comic-Con International season is here! Every year the beautiful city of San Diego hosts the largest Comic convention worldwide. Thousands of people, local and international, reside in SD for a week while they enjoy the festivities taking place inside and outside the convention center.

My family has attended Comic-Con without fail for the past 18 years and we can’t wait to see what’s planned for this years convention. Although Comic-Con has now expanded to include more of the Hollywood scene it still preserves its original comic-lover audience. Attendees can cosplay throughout the week, enjoy animated films and panels, and many times are able to meet the creators of their favorite comics.

For those who enjoy super hero movies and manga series but do not consider themselves complete fanatics can also enjoy from several Hollywood movies/TV series booths and panels as well. If you didn’t have the chance to purchase a ticket this year still come on down to the Convention Center and Gaslpamp Quarter because there’s always something for everyone to enjoy.

The Atlas of Beauty

Michaela Noroc, a Romanian backpacker photographer, created The Atlas of Beauty three years ago. The Atlas of Beauty is a project that focuses on photographing women around the globe. Noroc has visited more than 50 countries already where she has met incredible women and has listened to their life stories, experiences and thoughts. Michaela’s project is now known world-wide for celebrating the diversity of the world through photographs of women.
Michaela hopes to showcase and transmit to her audience that beauty knows no age, trends or colors because beauty is simply about being who you are. In a world where war and attacks are breaking out in every corner of the world it’s important to remember that yes, we are all different but rather than letting those differences tear us apart we should use them to bring us together. As a photographer, I strive to showcase the individuality of each of my models, at the end it’s not just about freezing a moment in time but capturing the richness of our own uniqueness and diversity.
  • “There is one thing the photograph must contain, the humanity of the moment.”
    Robert Frank

Happy Birthday Frida!

Today we celebrate 109 years of Frida Kahlo! On a day very much like today (July 6th, 1907) Frida began to conquer a nation through her beautiful artwork. MPR Studio Photography would like honor Frida as an influential artist not only through painting but through photography as well.13625261_10154332935334288_405035989_nPhoto: Manuel Alvarez Bravo

In the early days of MPR Studio Photography, Frida Kahlo became the source of inspiration for one of the studio’s major projects. Frida was a source of uniqueness and freedom to be creative beyond the barriers of art photography.

As such, on this special day MPR Studio Photography would like to announce the winner of our Summer Giveaway featuring a Frida Kahlo mima by Maroma & Arte. Last week we invited all of our followers and viewers to participate in a Frida Kahlo inspired contest where individuals could submit a representation of what Frida means to them. Get ready for our summer giveaway! In honor of Frida Kahlo’s Birthday, July 6th, we are partnering with Maroma & Arte to award a lucky follower one of these beautiful Frida Kahlo mima dolls.

Frida Kahlo’s major influence in art and politics can be appreciated not only in Mexico but across the globe as well. Kahlo’s pieces represent important moments in her life and the impact of those experiences on her entire being. She was a master of detail and creativity placing her as a leading Mexican painter in history.

We are glad to announce that Maroma & Arte has designed a limited-edition Frida Kahlo doll for all Frida lovers out there. This doll combines detail and creativity in the same way that Frida applied those skills in her paintings and to every day life. Frida is a major inspiration to MPR Studio Photography and to many interdisciplinary artists as well. As such, we hope that this beautiful mima can provide inspiration to your art and life.
