I’ve been waiting for the perfect photo shoot to finally put my Petzval lens to use! My fingers were itching to go outside and capture some beautiful images. For this photo shoot I wanted to base it around the theme of a Midsummer Night’s Dream, the famous Shakespeare Comedy. Some of the most iconic characters in his play are the fairies who inhabit the forest and who control the main characters.

In the play, the fairies are constantly surrounded by flowers and nature and I wanted to portray that in this photo shoot. Mischievous as they are, the fairies create magical juices and the entire play is set within a whimsical backdrop. My Petzval lens was a great way to create a curved vignette effect for a magical and whimsical feel. It’s as if the fairies were in a parallel reality where a distorted transparent wall allows them to peek into the outside world without anyone noticing their beautiful presence.
